Travel Knitting = Finished Object!

Hello and welcome back to Episode 5 of The Stitch Goddess podcast. Thank you so much for joining me! It's good to be back! You can find me on Ravelry and Instagram as elissapack.

Please say "Hello" to my fluffy co-host this week...Sir Fluffy Eddy McFluffFluff! 😻He has not really let me out of his sight since I've come home. There's also a sneak visitor to my podcast today, too! 😃

I went away on a business trip this past week to Anaheim, CA, and one of my main considerations immediately after the "What am I going to wear?!?" crisis was, "What am I going to knit?" I erred on the side of extreme minimalism and only took (gulp) one project, my Artifice Shawl by Hunter Hammersen. I'm so glad that I restrained myself! First of all, I packed small and light to avoid checking my bag. Secondly, I made LOAD of progress on my shawl! I wished I had a miniature digital scale so that I could weigh the yarn between the 9th and 10th pattern repeats, but I've decided to just keep going with this project on the current US1/2.25mm needles and be happy with a shawlette size. Once I was back home, I had about 18 grams left from a 113g skein, so I managed to finish an 11th pattern repeat and still have enough for the finishing row and the bind off. I had really been hoping to finish 12 repeats, but I wanted to save a bit of this yarn.

I am also very pleased with my platter of pattern weights! They took a lot more rice than I had expected - about 2.5 to 3 tablespoons each - and they are a lovely sight to behold!

Impulse Purchase...

I had a complete impulse purchase moment recently. I was scrolling through Instagram and sighing over the lovely yarns and projects I see, when a stunning project bag caught my eye! Pink! Floral! 💮Unicorns! 🦄What was not to love about this bag? And even better, it was a shop update promo for The Fawn and the Fox, about an imminent shop update...imminent, as in 3 minutes! The thrill of the hunt was on...I had one bag in my cart and it was already gone in the time that PayPal tried to confirm the order. So I was really lucky - or incredibly persistent - to get this one! I used up the last of my monthly allowance on it, and I am so pleased that I did! Isn't it gorgeous?

Upcoming Knitting Projects

  • Kingston Tunic : pattern by Andrea Mowry |  knit in Wool Days Scout in Blueberry
  • Icy Sweater: pattern by Kim Hargreaves | knit in Rowan Kidsilk Haze in Aqua
The Icy Sweater (not Ivy, as I kept calling it in my podcast), is probably my oldest WIP, started in 2004...but that's a story for another time!

Enjoy and happy knitting!
